The Black Garden: Roses of the Lost Souls
Legend says that the Black Garden was created by a creature that was summoned to the Realm within the Void many seasons ago.
Some say it was a Demon of once great power, others, a Reaper summoned to collect the many dead souls trapped within Spira?s vast realm.
Though the true origin of this individual is unknown, the Garden itself, stands as a symbol life within the dreary existence of Death.
The Black Garden is a place where dark petaled roses grow in the festering and rotting soil of the dead so that they become temporary houses for souls that have lost their way.
While Reapers, Leshys, and other Farriers of the dead help to aid souls to the afterlife, there is a need for a haven until that transfer comes.
That is what the black roses themselves are for, small housings for the dead souls delivered unto them.
There are a few other task keepers of the garden, however.
Sentinels, guarding and protecting the Garden from outside intrusions.
Lanterns, those who guide the souls of the many dead and lost across the realm.
Rosette Keepers, who care and tend for the flowers and the Garden's overall health.
Brigands, those who aid the balance by being pervayers of taking the lives of others, or are hunters of animals.
Everyone in the Garden necessitates and understands that whether through injury, sickness, or another's hands, death is death and part of natural balance.
Those who fear death or find themselves struggling to understand it may find intrigue in the Garden and it's spirituality.
That death is not meant to be feared but given value to what it provides for the balance to life.
That there is always room for one more, in the Black Garden.
